Vince Young’s agent says the Tennessee Titans quarterback, who lost his starting job to veteran Kerry Collins early in the 2008 season, intends to stay in Nashville and win his job back, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported.

Young’s agent, Major Adams, told the newspaper that the re-signing of Collins to a two-year, $14 million deal has only fueled Young’s desire to prove himself on the field once more.

“That decision has no bearing on Vince’s thinking,” Adams said Wednesday, according to the report. “He is just trying to get himself together, not worrying about what they are doing with Kerry. That doesn’t matter to him.

“Vince is not upset. He is not asking for a trade or anything. He loves the organization, loves [Titans owner] Bud Adams, and he wants to be in Tennessee,” Adams said, according to the report. “But he still wants to play, and is approaching this offseason like he’s going to.”

Young started the Titans’ first game of the season, but was booed by the home fans and injured his knee. He played in two more games the rest of the season as Collins took over as starter and the Titans went 13-3 and won the AFC South.

But Young, who won the BCS championship at Texas and led the Titans to the playoffs in his first full year as a starter, is hungry to get back on the field, Adams said, according to The Tennessean.

“Vince wants to be the starter. He has started all his life, so he wants to start,” Adams said, according to the report. “And he is preparing like he is going to start, doing all the things he needs to do.

“He looks hungrier to me than ever before. I don’t know that he is doing more than he’s ever done, but this is as early as he’s ever started.”
